Prove Yourself by the Quality

The Strathmore University School of Accountancy (SOA), today awarded certificates to CPA and ACCA 2016 graduands, in a colorful knowledgeable event. Learning from accounting guru and the Director of SOA, Dr. Jim Boyd McFie, the excited graduands received great words of wisdom as they launched their accounting careers.

“We live in a very competitive society, you have to be better than the best to make a remarkable difference”, Dr. McFie advised “be knowledgeable about current matters impacting the society, on top of having great skills. You have to prove yourself by the quality of your work”, he stated.

SOA is well known for the quality of its accounting fraternity in the East African region. The school has made its name and mark in offering professional courses that include; CPA, ACCA, CFA, CISA, CISM, and ACA. The school is committed to ensuring better decision making by entrepreneurs, institutions, companies, governments, organizations and other bodies through better ways of working with financial information.

Executive coach Tom Kogie also took stage to congratulate the students, urging them to steer away from corruption while working in the industry. Tom also gave students five pointers that should help them in their career journey. “Create a strategy for your life; Allocate time and resources; create a culture; avoid the marginal cost mistakes; and finally create a yardstick for your life. You have to walk the talk and hold yourself pure to the very last moment”, he concluded.

This year’s ACCA prize winners were;

December 2015 – Francis Muigai “Position 1 in the country and position 15 worldwide in F5; Swabra Mutwafy  position 1 in the country and position 22 worldwide in P3)

June 2016 – Stephanie Mwangi “position 1 in the country and 17 worldwide in F6; Jeffrey Murerwa “position 1 in the country and 9 worldwide F7; and Swabra Mutwafy again – position 1 in the country and 15 worldwide in P4 examinations.
