Angelica Kiboro, MBET, MBA, BA (IMIS), Deputy Principal and Registrar, Strathmore Institute, Entrepreneurship Advisor and Trainer

Ms. Angelica Kiboro, currently the Deputy Principal and Registrar of Strathmore Institute, is a global entrepreneurship advocate, lecturer, project manager, mentor and coach.

Highly passionate about entrepreneurship, she drives the entrepreneurial and innovation agenda of the Strathmore Institute and trains at the Strathmore University and @iBizAfrica’s Incubator.

Angelica wears a number of hats including, Project Manager of an initiative established four years ago by the Sauder Business School, British Columbia University in partnership with Strathmore University to train small business owners in entrepreneurial skills in Nairobi’s Mathare and Kibera slum areas. She has mentored several student entrepreneurs to scale up their businesses from ideation stage to revenue making levels.

Angelica has received special training having undergone entrepreneurial training from Wadhwani Foundation, an international entrepreneurial capacity building institution. She also undertook a STEP Train the Trainers Course from the University of Leuphana and Strathmore Business School and was trained as a coach by the International Coach Federation and Strathmore Business School.

Angelica is a graduate of the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program at Canada’s University of Waterloo and a recipient of a MasterCard Scholarship. She holds an MBA and BA degree from the University of Nairobi.

She was the liaison officer for the Strathmore-Waterloo Virtual Incubation Program in Kenya which imparted entrepreneurial skills to Kenyan university students that had developed agricultural mobile applications to impact the bottom of the pyramid.

Angelica is credited with spearheading the first microfinance diploma curriculum in Kenya in collaboration with Swiss Contact and the Association of Microfinance Institutions (AMFI). Some of the feathers on her cap include developing, in conjunction with the World Council of Credit Union (WOCCU) the SWAMI Program, a certification training for credit union managers and board members in 9 African countries and which has so far benefitted over 400 people. She developed the entrepreneurship course, a special focus area that is part of the process of attaining a Bachelor of Commerce undergraduate degree at Strathmore University. She has compiled local relevant case studies and taken part in the Faculty’s Development Program, a case teaching and writing program under the ministry of industrialization (funded by International Finance Corporation (IFC) and guided by the Global Business School Network (GBSN).

As a writer and speaker, Angelica has written several papers and presentations on Entrepreneurship and addressed various entrepreneurial conferences in Africa, Canada and Europe in the process contributing to entrepreneurship and university education. She has participated as an entrepreneurial advisor on National TV. Her sterling career has included being an entrepreneurial judge, facilitator and advisor for projects with World Bank, Citi Bank, Standard Chartered, UNDP and USAID.
